About Sarah Bowman Spaces

A Different Path to Interior Design

I didn't follow the traditional route to becoming an interior designer. I spent 15 years in corporate business development and marketing, managing complex projects and demanding clients. Then I spent 5 years in professional home staging, learning what makes spaces feel instantly right and what drives real estate decisions.

By the time I launched Sarah Bowman Spaces in 2019, I had something most designers don't: deep expertise in project management, strategic thinking, and market intelligence. That unconventional background is exactly what sets my work apart in Atlanta's saturated design market.

I approach every project with the precision of a business executive, the market knowledge of a staging professional, and a genuine love for design history that informs every choice I make. The result? Homes that are both beautiful and strategic, personal and performance-driven, rooted in history and vibrantly alive.

What I Believe About Design

Your home should honor the past and energize the present. It should reflect who you are, not what's trending. It should include pieces no one else can buy and materials that will outlast the next design fad.

  • I Don't Follow Trends
I apply timeless principles to modern homes. Trends come and go. Good design rooted in history lasts.

  • I Challenge Safe Choices
All-white interiors bore me. Chrome faucets don't belong in sophisticated homes. Mass-produced art doesn't tell your story. I push clients to make bolder, more personal choices that actually reflect who they are.

  • I Value Quality Over Trends
I believe in original art, quality craftsmanship, and materials that improve with age. Your home deserves better than what's easy to find at big-box stores.

  • I Design for Real Life
Beautiful spaces should be lived in and loved, not just photographed. Every choice I make considers both aesthetics and how you actually use your home.

  • I Make Design Accessible
You don't need to know the difference between Bauhaus and Brutalism. That's my job. I bring the expertise. You bring the openness to creating something better than beige.

Why My Background Matters

Corporate Strategy (15 Years)

I spent 15 years in business development and marketing, managing million-dollar projects, negotiating with vendors, and delivering results under pressure. Those skills translate directly to interior design: I understand timelines, budgets, client communication, and how to manage complex projects without drama.

Professional Home Staging (5 Years)

Five years of staging homes taught me what makes spaces feel right immediately and what drives buyer psychology. I learned to read architecture, optimize flow, and understand what sells. That market intelligence now informs every design decision I make, whether you're creating a forever home or a luxury rental.

Interior Design Expertise

I'm a two-time RESA Designer of the Year (2022, 2023) and have been designing luxury residential and investment properties since 2019. My work has been recognized for its sophisticated approach, strategic thinking, and ability to create spaces that feel both timeless and unexpected.

What This Means for You:

  • Projects that stay on schedule and on budget

  • Clear communication and realistic expectations

  • Strategic thinking about both aesthetics and performance

  • Design choices backed by market knowledge and historical expertise

  • A process that actually works the way it's supposed to

How I Work With Clients

My Approach: I guide clients who are open-minded but may not know they want original design yet. You don't need to arrive with a vision board or perfect taste. You need to be willing to answer honest questions about how you live, trust the process, and be open to choices that might surprise you at first.

I'm known for being direct, confident in my opinions, and willing to challenge safe decisions. If you want a designer who will follow you around with a mood board and execute exactly what you show them, I'm not your person. If you want someone who will push you to make better choices and create a home that's genuinely yours, we'll work well together.

What to Expect:

  • Clear, honest communication (no design jargon or runaround)

  • Strategic thinking about both aesthetics and function

  • Guidance toward quality choices, not quick fixes

  • A collaborative process where your input shapes the direction

  • Confidence in decision-making backed by expertise

  • A home that feels like you, even if it's not what you initially imagined
